Freeport to Bar Harbor

The Congressional stalemate has been disappointing to us.   We are in Bar Harbor just outside of Acadia National Park and there are a lot of upset people in this town.  I hope it makes a difference, but I am doubtful that Obamacare will be stopped.

We had planned to be up early and drive straight to Bar Harbor and be here by late morning, but we changed our plans and made the slow trip up US 1 which is known as the Atlantic Coast Highway.  We drove through many coastal towns which were beautiful.  We stopped by the lighthouse at Permaquid (the lighthouse which is on the Maine state quarter).  We drove to the top of the mountain overlooking Camden for a scenic vista.

We arrived at Bar Harbor around 5pm and were greeted with two cruise ships in the harbor.  Thankfully they have raised anchor and have departed.  We are sitting with the door open and we are some 40 yards off the rocky shore with the waves crashing.  It has been sunny everyday of our trip and was 75 degrees today.  We are expecting a low of 46 tonight.  It is now time to plan tomorrow.  Weeks of mapping and planning Acadia has to be put aside and now plot a new course.

Hope you enjoy the pictures.  Good Night!

To Treston & Tucker:  Poppy spotted this guy near the lighthouse and I believe he needs some therapy!

The rock is so unusual.  It looks like petrified wood.

The Margaret Todd.  We will be on board tomorrow night for a sunset sail.
